Mousse Au Chocolat

“When I used to read fairy tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one!”

-Alice

Hello Folks!!!

Ever wondered how it would be to sit at a table under a tree, merrily sipping morning tea with friends, and go on in endless chatter just like the mad hatter and little Alice in Wonderland!

I have felt like Alice at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party whenever my little friends and I would meet at the school grounds for break. The break hour was the most awaited time of the day, when we nursery students could eat a second breakfast with our friends. The cold weather, the mist kissed trees and benches, and our school uniform with hats and mittens always made us imagine we were at the ‘Tea Party’. Our break time was an hour long and that was when my friends and I, after munching our goodies, would roam around the school, balancing on the edge of time to discover new things before our next lesson began.

Just like any other of our mischievous adventures, we three girls were lost in conversation and didn’t notice we reached the far edge of our school ground, a place we had never dared to go. I was determined that we all must leave the spot immediately and return to our bench under the tree.  My friends on the other hand wanted to walk a little more and find what hidden destination lay behind. Unfortunately, at that moment, our class teacher walked towards us. We were frozen to the spot with the effects of both the cold breeze and the fear growing within. However, she only smiled at us and asked us whether we would join her for some snacks at the teacher’s quarters! We never expected such a turn of events!

Like Hermione, Luna and Ginny, following Professor Mc Gonagall; the three of us in a line with our teacher leading us. The teachers’ quarters were so beautiful and big, with a glass door near the balcony and a warm fireplace in the living room. Our teacher gave us some warm chocolate mousse. Every bite of it melted in my mouth and warmed my little heart. It was a memorable day – chocolaty goodness, a burning fireplace and a lovely teacher and three best friends.

Every time we make chocolate mousse at home, the memories of that wonderful day rush into my mind - the warmth of her love and the cold misty morning. Speaking to my teacher after many years and listening to her narrating all my silly childhood escapades made us laugh till our stomachs hurt, but what was missing was  the warm sitting room, my two friends and the chocolate mousse.
